Affordable housing options for Territorians
Venture Housing Company (Venture) was established in 2012 with strong support from the Territory Government to provide affordable housing to the Northern Territory community. Venture will focus on providing rental housing for low to moderate income earners in the Territory who are struggling to find a home but may not qualify for public housing.
There will be a strong emphasis on targeting key workers vital to the Territory economy, such as workers in retail, trades and hospitality. Venture will also work towards providing housing for disadvantaged groups in the community .
Venture will build new partnerships with the private sector and non-government organisations to deliver its housing projects.
Although the Territory Government has supported the establishment of Venture, it is an independently incorporated company under the Corporations Act and will operate autonomously.
Village@Parap Unit Complex
There are 35 units newly built in the Village@Parap redevelopment of the former Wirrina public housing site. These units were available for rent in December 2012. A further 140 properties are in the planning stage which will be provided to Venture by the Northern Territory Government. More information on future projects will be coming soon!
National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS)
Venture Housing has 170 NRAS incentives from the Australian Government which are currently allocated to 54 properties and will be applied to the other 116 dwellings which will be all completed in the next 10 months. Our properties are in Darwin and Palmerston. Each NRAS property will be rented at a reduced rent between 55% and 74.5% of the market rent based in income.
Leased Properties from Territory Housing
To support Venture’s role in providing housing for people on very low incomes Venture manage 10 properties in the Village@Parap for seniors on behalf of Territory Housing.
